Tarot & Oracle

Tarot & Oracle: 56 items from £13.99 to £55.99. Tarot began as a 15th-century Italian card game; it was adopted for divination in 18th-century France and shaped by the Golden Dawn in Victorian London.

How to choose tarot decks

  • Rider-Waite-Smith style decks are easiest for learning.
  • A guidebook helps a first deck.
  • Gilded edges look beautiful but can be slippery to shuffle.

Available in: Seven Chakra stones.

Using and caring for them

  • Shuffle while holding a question in mind.
  • Start with a one-card daily draw or a three-card past–present–future spread.
  • Journal what each card brings to mind; meaning grows with practice.
  • Keep cards in their box or a cloth wrap away from damp.
  • Shuffle gently to avoid bending the edges.

Today many readers use tarot for reflection: the imagery acts as a prompt to think through a question rather than a prediction. Traditions are described for interest; we make no health claims.

UK delivery £3.95, free over £40, 2–5 working days.

Tarot & Oracle: questions

Which tarot deck is best for beginners?

A deck in the Rider-Waite-Smith tradition, because most books, courses and our free Tarot Room use its imagery and meanings.

How many cards are in a tarot deck?

78: 22 major arcana and 56 minor arcana in four suits (wands, cups, swords and pentacles).

Is it bad luck to buy your own tarot deck?

No, that's folklore. Most readers buy their own first deck.

How do you cleanse a tarot deck?

Traditions include shuffling thoroughly, resting the deck under a full moon or placing a crystal on it. These are rituals rather than requirements.
