What it is
Tree of Life Singing Bowl Set- Green 10.7cm is a ready-to-play singing bowl set (10.7cm): a bowl with the accessories you need to start, so you can play it the day it arrives.
From the maker: Bowl size: 10.7x6 cm, weight: 0.4 kg
Materials and size
Size: approximately 10.7cm, weighing about 0.4kg. Allow for small variations between batches.
Traditional uses
Singing bowls are linked with the Himalayan region, including Nepal, Tibet and northern India, where metal bowls have long been made by hand-hammering or casting. In meditation practice, a bowl is struck at the start and end of a sitting, and the fading tone is used as a point of focus. Traditional meanings are offered for interest and reflection, not as a health claim.
How to use it
- Rest the bowl on its cushion on a flat spot or your open palm.
- Strike the side lightly with the mallet, then slowly circle the rim with steady pressure until the bowl begins to sing.
- Keep your fingers off the walls of the bowl, which mute the sound.
- Yoga idea: teachers often sound a bowl or bells to open savasana or to mark the close of class.
- Home idea: a short sound practice after work is a simple way to mark the switch from work to rest.
- Group idea: in sound baths, players space bowls of different sizes around the room for layered tones.
Care
- Wipe with a dry, soft cloth after handling to remove fingerprints.
