What it is
Hand Beaten & Engraved Singing Bowl Gift Set - 14cm - Green Tara is a 14cm metal singing bowl. Struck or circled around the rim with a mallet, it produces a sustained tone with layered overtones that slowly fades.
Green Tara is the female bodhisattva of compassionate action in Tibetan Buddhism, traditionally invoked for protection on journeys; her mantra is Om Tare Tuttare Ture Soha.
Green is the folk colour of growth, luck and abundance and of the heart chakra. Styling: green brings the outdoors in; pair it with plants, rattan and natural wood.
At around 14cm this is the large, statement option: a centrepiece for a dresser, altar or sound space. Large pieces hold a whole collection of stones or jewellery and give the deepest, fullest presence in a room.
From the maker: This Hand Beaten & Engraved Singing Bowl Gift Set is a seamless fusion of artistic elegance and mesmerising sound. Add to your collection this set, featuring a 14cm singing bowl, a mallet, a cushion, and a pouch, all adorned with exquisite designs.
This is one of 6 options in the Hand Beaten & Engraved Singing Bowl Gift Set range; nearby choices include 14cm - Lotus Flower, 14cm - Round Medallions, 14cm - Teachings Buddha.
Materials and size
Size: approximately 14cm. Allow for small variations between batches.
Traditional uses
Engraved designs such as mandalas, the Om symbol or the Buddha are decorative and devotional; they reflect the traditions the bowls come from. We share these as cultural traditions and personal beliefs only, never as health claims.
How to use it
- Tap the outside wall softly with the mallet to wake the bowl.
- Circle the rim slowly with even pressure; once it starts to sing, keep the speed steady.
- Group idea: in sound baths, players space bowls of different sizes around the room for layered tones.
- Practice tip: record yourself playing on your phone; it is the quickest way to hear whether your pressure is steady.
- Neighbour tip: rim playing is quieter than striking if you live in a flat.
Care
- Avoid harsh polish on engraved or coloured finishes.
Who it suits
Best for sound therapists and teachers adding to a collection. At £60.00 it's a statement piece, and it ships free.
