What it is
Cauldron Singing Bowl - Magic Mushroom - Green (15cm) is a 15cm metal singing bowl. Struck or circled around the rim with a mallet, it produces a sustained tone with layered overtones that slowly fades.
The toadstool is a fairy-tale symbol of the otherworld in British and European folklore, from fairy rings to Alice in Wonderland.
Green is the folk colour of growth, luck and abundance and of the heart chakra. Styling: green brings the outdoors in; pair it with plants, rattan and natural wood.
At around 15cm this is the large, statement option: a centrepiece for a dresser, altar or sound space. Large pieces hold a whole collection of stones or jewellery and give the deepest, fullest presence in a room.
From the maker: Create a calming atmosphere with this Magic Mushroom Cauldron Singing Bowl in striking black and green. Decorated with engraved mushroom and botanical artwork, it combines mystical woodland styling with the soothing sound traditionally associated with meditation and mindfulness practices.
The Cauldron Singing Bowl range comes in 3 versions. If Magic Mushroom - Green (15cm) isn't quite right, compare Magic Mushroom - Yellow (15cm) or Magic Mushroom - Blue (15cm).
Materials and size
Size: approximately 15cm. Allow for small variations between batches.
Traditional uses
In meditation and sound practice, the bowl's fading tone is used as a focal point, and bowls are frequently played at the beginning and end of a session. Traditional meanings are offered for interest and reflection, not as a health claim.
How to use it
- Tap the outside wall lightly with the mallet to wake the bowl.
- Circle the rim slowly with even pressure; once it starts to sing, keep the speed steady.
- Group idea: in sound baths, players space bowls of different sizes around the room for layered tones.
- Practice tip: record yourself playing on your phone; it is the quickest way to hear whether your pressure is steady.
- Neighbour tip: rim playing is quieter than striking if you live in a flat.
Care
- Avoid harsh polish on engraved or coloured finishes.
Who it suits
Ideal for sound therapists and teachers adding to a collection.
