How to use tingsha cymbals
Tingsha are a pair of small cymbals joined by a cord, traditionally used in Tibetan Buddhist practice. Their bright, ringing tone is often used to open or close a meditation.
Step by step
- Step 1. Hold the cord so the two cymbals hang facing each other.
- Step 2. Let them swing gently together, edge to edge, so they touch lightly.
- Step 3. Listen as the tone rings and fades.
- Step 4. Ring once to begin quiet time and again to close it.
Looking after it
- Keep the cord untangled and dry.
- Polish with a soft cloth.
Safety
- The ring is loud close to the ear; hold them at chest height.
