Wheel of Fortune and Death: tarot combination

What the pair means

The Wheel of Fortune turns; Death ends a chapter. Together they say a cycle has run its course and a new one is starting, often through events outside your control. Timing is the theme: this is a natural ending, not a punishment.

The two cards

Wheel of Fortune

Cycles, fate, turning points. The wheel turns. Tradition sees change coming; meet it with an open, steady heart. Full meaning.

Death

Endings, transformation, release. Not a literal ending, but a door closing so another can open. Let the old season fall away. Full meaning.

In love

One phase of love life ends and another begins, sometimes quickly.

Work and money

Change you did not choose, such as a contract ending, that turns out to be timely.

Advice

Go with the turn rather than against it.

Yes or no

Unclear: look at the surrounding cards. Yes-or-no readings are a rough guide; the cards' story matters more than the verdict.

If a card is reversed

Reversed, the Wheel of Fortune reads as: resistance to change, or a run of bad luck. What goes down comes round again. Reversed, the Death reads as: clinging to what has passed. Change is asking to be allowed. A reversal softens, delays or turns the pair's message inward.
