Traditional uses

In modern witchcraft and folk magic, incense is chosen by intention, and its smoke is said to carry a wish or prayer upward. These are beliefs and traditions. How to use it

  • Use a heat-proof burner or ash catcher.
  • Ventilate the room and never leave it unattended.
  • Light a single stick at the start of a reading, journalling session or meditation and stop when it burns out: a natural timer of 30–45 minutes.
  • Try one scent for a week before switching, so you learn to recognise it.
  • Gifting idea: pair it with a matching crystal or a holder for a ready-made ritual gift.
  • Journalling idea: note the date, the moon phase and what you wished for, and look back a month later.
  • Storage: keep spares somewhere cool and dark so colours and scents stay fresh.
