Traditional uses
Singing bowls are associated with the Himalayan region. Bowls made there have traditionally been hand-hammered or cast from metal alloys, and many carry engraved mantras or symbols. In meditation and sound practice, the bowl's fading tone is used as a focal point, and bowls are often played at the beginning and end of a session. We share these as cultural traditions and personal beliefs only, not as health or medical claims.
How to use it
Getting started with your singing bowl: For a softer sound, strike rather than rub, and let each tone fade fully.
Circle the rim slowly with even pressure; once it starts to sing, keep the speed steady.
Tap the outside wall gently with the mallet to wake the bowl.
Care
Avoid harsh polish on engraved or coloured finishes.
Wipe with a soft, dry cloth after use; skin oils can mark the metal.
Store somewhere dry and away from hard objects that could dent the rim.
Who it suits
Ideal for people starting a meditation or yoga practice; sound therapists and teachers adding to a collection; someone who enjoys quiet rituals.
