Struck or circled around the rim with a mallet, it produces a sustained tone with layered overtones that slowly fades. The Bodhi tree is the fig tree at Bodh Gaya under which the Buddha attained enlightenment; its heart-shaped leaf is a symbol of awakening. The Buddha, Siddhartha Gautama, taught in northern India around the 5th century BCE. Statues show him in mudras, hand gestures that each carry a meaning, such as touching the earth or turning the wheel of the teachings. At around 16cm this is the large, statement option: a centrepiece for a dresser, altar or sound space. Large pieces hold a whole collection of stones or jewellery and give the deepest, fullest presence in a room. From the maker: Crafted in the sacred Tibetan style, this bowl carries the essence of the Bodhi Tree Buddha, creating an atmosphere of harmony and spiritual growth. This bowl features a detailed engraving of the Bodhi Tree Buddha, symbolizing the path to enlightenment. Also in this range (6 in total): 16cm - Mantra, 21cm - 5 Buddhas, 21cm - 7 Chakra & Flower of Life. Size: approximately 16cm. Allow for small variations between batches. ## Traditions (belief, not health claims) Engraved designs such as mandalas, the Om symbol or the Buddha are decorative and devotional; they reflect the traditions the bowls come from. These are traditions and beliefs, described for interest, not health or medical claims. ## How to use - Tap the outside wall with care with the mallet to wake the bowl. - Circle the rim slowly with even pressure; once it starts to sing, keep the speed steady. - Group idea: in sound baths, players space bowls of different sizes around the room for layered tones. - Practice tip: record yourself playing on your phone; it is the quickest way to hear whether your pressure is steady. - Neighbour tip: rim playing is quieter than striking if you live in a flat. ## Care - Avoid harsh polish on engraved or coloured finishes. ## Policies - Delivery: UK delivery £3.95, free over £40, 2–5 working days.
