Lit and gently extinguished, it smoulders and releases aromatic smoke. White sage has been burned in Indigenous ceremonies of the Americas; in modern practice its smoke is associated with clearing a space. The fragrance is herbal, clean and camphor-like. At around 10cm this is the mid-sized option: big enough to notice on a shelf, small enough for a desk or windowsill. Mid sizes are the most versatile: they hold a bracelet or a handful of tumbles, or sit happily on a bedside table. From the maker: White Sage Floral Smudge Stick with Daisy, Carnation and Rose Also in this range (7 in total): Ruda Rue Sage 10cm, White Sage, Ginger and Cedar, White Sage & Lavender 22.5cm. Size: approximately 10cm. Allow for small variations between batches. ## Traditions (belief, not health claims) In modern practice smudging is used to clear a space, regularly when moving into a new home or after a difficult day. Rue (ruda) has its own long folk tradition in Latin America and the Mediterranean as a protective herb. Traditional meanings are offered for interest and reflection, not as a health claim. ## How to use - Hold a heat-proof dish or abalone shell underneath to catch embers. - Walk the smoke around the space and open a window. - Safety: always use a heat-proof holder on a stable surface, away from curtains, children and pets. - Ventilation: a slightly open window keeps scent pleasant and smoke light. - Gifting idea: pair it with a matching crystal or a holder for a ready-made ritual gift. ## Care - Relight the same stick several times; it usually lasts for many sessions. ## Policies - Delivery: UK delivery £3.95, free over £40, 2–5 working days.
