Lit and left to smoulder, it releases a steady fragrant smoke that fills a room. Sandalwood is central to Hindu and Buddhist worship and is one of the most traditional scents for meditation. The fragrance is creamy, woody and calm. Satya is the incense house of Shrinivas Sugandhalaya, founded in Bangalore in 1964 and famous for its Nag Champa; its sticks are hand-rolled in the masala style. From the maker: This box contains 12 packs of Satya Sandalwood incense sticks. This is a oriental woody fragrance that is powdery and unique with spice blends. Size: approximately 12.5 x 22 x 8cm, weighing about 370g. Allow for small variations between batches. ## Traditions (belief, not health claims) Many households light incense at dusk, a custom shared by Hindu, Buddhist and Catholic devotion where evening prayer is marked with fragrant smoke. Burning incense is one of the oldest ritual acts: Egyptian temples burned kyphi, and frankincense and myrrh were prized trade goods across the ancient world. These are traditions and beliefs, described for interest, not health or medical claims. ## How to use - Keep incense well away from smoke alarms, curtains and bookshelves. - Set a simple intention, then light the incense and blow out the flame. - Use a heat-proof burner or ash catcher. - Ventilate the room and never leave it unattended. - Moon idea: the new moon is the traditional time for beginnings and the full moon for gratitude and release. - Evening idea: light it as you switch off screens for the night, a simple cue to wind down. - Safety: always use a heat-proof holder on a stable surface, away from curtains, children and pets. ## Care - Store sealed in a cool, dry place to keep the fragrance fresh. ## Policies - Delivery: UK delivery £3.95, free over £40, 2–5 working days.
