## Description

Set of 12 Patchouli Incense Sticks by Satya is incense made for ritual and atmosphere. Lit and left to smoulder, it releases a steady fragrant smoke that fills a room.

Patchouli leaves were packed with Indian shawls to deter moths, which is how the scent reached Victorian Britain. The fragrance is deep, earthy and musky.

Satya is the incense house of Shrinivas Sugandhalaya, founded in Bangalore in 1964 and famous for its Nag Champa; its sticks are hand-rolled in the masala style.

From the maker: This box contains 12 packs of Satya Patchouli incense sticks. This spicy scent is an all-around favourite.

Size: approximately 12.5 x 22 x 8cm, weighing about 375g. Allow for small variations between batches.

## Traditions (belief, not health claims)

Backflow and dhoop cones are a newer form: dense, stickless cones that burn quickly with a rich scent, popular for short rituals. Many households light incense at dusk, a custom shared by Hindu, Buddhist and Catholic devotion where evening prayer is marked with fragrant smoke. Traditional meanings are offered for interest and reflection, not as a health claim.

## How to use

- Try one scent for a week before switching, so you learn to recognise it.
- Keep incense well away from smoke alarms, curtains and bookshelves.
- Set a simple intention, then light the incense and blow out the flame.
- Use a heat-proof burner or ash catcher.
- Ventilation: a slightly open window keeps scent pleasant and smoke light.
- Gifting idea: pair it with a matching crystal or a holder for a ready-made ritual gift.
- Journalling idea: note the date, the moon phase and what you wished for, and look back a month later.

## Care

- Store sealed in a cool, dry set to keep the fragrance fresh.
