At around 13cm this is the large, statement option: a centrepiece for a dresser, altar or sound space. Large pieces hold a whole collection of stones or jewellery and give the deepest, fullest presence in a room. From the maker: The Selenite Ritual Bowl is a beautiful and meaningful piece of home decor that is perfect for use in spiritual practices and rituals. Made from natural selenite, a translucent mineral with calming and soothing properties, this bowl measures 13cm in diameter and is perfect for holding herbs, crystals, or other ritual items. Also in this range (2 in total): 10cm. Selenite is a crystalline form of gypsum, soft enough to scratch with a fingernail, typically pearly white with a silky sheen. It measures 2 on the Mohs hardness scale. Natural gypsum. The Cave of the Crystals in Naica, Mexico, holds selenite beams over 10 metres long. Size: approximately 13cm. Natural material varies slightly in size, colour and markings. ## Traditions (belief, not health claims) Selenite takes its name from Selene, Greek goddess of the moon, because of its pearly sheen. Selenite is named after Selene, the Greek goddess of the moon. In modern practice selenite plates and bowls are used to 'charge' or cleanse other crystals placed on them. In modern crystal tradition selenite is linked with the crown chakra and with Taurus and Cancer. Traditional meanings are offered for interest and reflection, not as a health claim. ## How to use - Use it as a bright, moonlike accent on an altar or bedside table. - Place other crystals or jewellery on it overnight as a cleansing ritual. - It pairs traditionally with any crystal you want to rest on it. - Dressing-table idea: use it as a landing place for jewellery so pieces aren't scattered. - Altar idea: its pearly white suits a moon altar beside a candle and a small bowl of water (kept well apart). - Gifting idea: selenite is lightweight and inexpensive to post, so it makes an easy gift for a crystal-loving friend. ## Care - It is very gentle; handle lightly and keep away from damp rooms. ## Policies - Delivery: UK delivery £3.95, free over £40, 2–5 working days.
