Struck or circled around the rim with a mallet, it produces a sustained tone with layered overtones that slowly fades. Round medallions echo the circular mandalas of Himalayan art, symbols of wholeness. At around 14cm this is the large, statement option: a centrepiece for a dresser, altar or sound space. Large pieces hold a whole collection of stones or jewellery and give the deepest, fullest presence in a room. From the maker: Hand Beaten & Engraved Singing Bowl Gift Sets make a delightful addition to your collection. Meticulously fashioned with intricate designs, this set comprises a 14cm singing bowl, a mallet, a plush cushion, and a convenient pouch. This is one of 6 options in the Hand Beaten & Engraved Singing Bowl Gift Set range; nearby choices include 14cm - Teachings Buddha, 14cm - Yogi, 14cm - Flower of Life. Size: approximately 14cm. Allow for small variations between batches. ## Traditions (belief, not health claims) Singing bowls are tied to the Himalayan region. Bowls made there have traditionally been hand-hammered or cast from metal alloys, and many carry engraved mantras or symbols. Traditional meanings are offered for interest and reflection, not as a health claim. ## How to use - For a softer sound, strike rather than rub, and let each tone fade fully. - Rest the bowl on a cushion or your flat, open palm. - Yoga idea: teachers often sound a bowl or bells to open savasana or to mark the close of class. - Home idea: a short sound practice after work is a simple way to mark the switch from work to rest. - Group idea: in sound baths, players space bowls of different sizes around the room for layered tones. ## Care - Wipe with a gentle, dry cloth after use; skin oils can mark the metal. ## Policies - Delivery: UK delivery £3.95, free over £40, 2–5 working days.
