Love candles are usually pink or red and are traditionally lit on a Friday, the day of Venus. Many people use a love candle for self-love as much as romance: a few quiet minutes of appreciation while it burns. Rose petals and rose quartz are the traditional companions of a love candle. Rose has been the scent of love since antiquity; in Sufi and Christian devotion it is linked with the divine and with the Virgin Mary. The fragrance is soft, floral and sweet. From the maker: Bring a little intention to every sip with our Rose Quartz Glass Crystal Water Bottle. Made from eco-friendly borosilicate glass, it holds a chamber of Rose Quartz, a stone traditionally associated with unconditional love, harmony and inner peace. Rose Quartz is a pink, usually translucent variety of quartz, typically soft pink. It measures 7 on the Mohs hardness scale. Natural quartz; its pink colour comes from microscopic fibres of a dumortierite-like mineral. Rose quartz is rarely transparent; a cloudy, milky look is normal and a sign of natural material. It is a popular choice for a first crystal and for wedding, anniversary and Valentine's gifts. ## Traditions (belief, not health claims) Keeping a crystal near drinking water is a modern ritual of intention; many people simply enjoy seeing the stone each time they take a sip. This is a belief and an everyday ritual, not a health claim. Rose quartz is traditionally linked with love, friendship and self-kindness, which is why it is so often given as a gift between friends or partners. In modern crystal tradition rose quartz is linked with the heart chakra and with Taurus and Libra. We share these as cultural traditions and personal beliefs only, never as health claims. ## How to use - For a love ritual: rose petals and rose quartz are the traditional companions of a love candle. - Fill with water as you would any bottle; the crystal stays in its own sealed section. - Hand wash only. - It pairs traditionally with amethyst or green aventurine. - Home idea: a well-chosen object by the door or on a mantelpiece sets the tone of a room. - Gifting idea: a practical, beautiful item suits housewarmings and new-job presents. - Ritual idea: give the item a regular moment in your day, such as morning coffee or evening journalling. ## Care - Wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry it straight away; skip soaps, salt and long soaks.
