Rose has been the scent of love since antiquity; in Sufi and Christian devotion it is linked with the divine and with the Virgin Mary. The fragrance is soft, floral and sweet. The Buddha, Siddhartha Gautama, taught in northern India around the 5th century BCE. Statues show him in mudras, hand gestures that each carry a meaning, such as touching the earth or turning the wheel of the teachings. This is one of 4 options in the Gemstone Large Buddha range; nearby choices include Amethyst, Jade, Que Sera Stone. Rose Quartz is a pink, usually translucent variety of quartz, typically soft pink. It measures 7 on the Mohs hardness scale. Natural quartz; its pink colour comes from microscopic fibres of a dumortierite-like mineral. Rose quartz is rarely transparent; a cloudy, milky look is normal and a sign of natural material. It is a popular choice for a first crystal and for wedding, anniversary and Valentine's gifts. ## Traditions (belief, not health claims) In Buddhist and Hindu homes, statues are placed on a clean, raised shelf as a mark of respect, regularly facing the room or the entrance, with a candle, flowers or incense nearby. Rose quartz is traditionally linked with love, friendship and self-kindness, which is why it is so often given as a gift between friends or partners. In modern crystal tradition rose quartz is linked with the heart chakra and with Taurus and Libra. These are traditions and beliefs, described for interest, not health or medical claims. ## How to use - Pair it with a tealight, a small plant or an incense holder for a simple meditation corner. - Place it at or above eye level on a shelf, mantel or altar. - It pairs traditionally with amethyst or green aventurine. - Small-space idea: a single shelf, a windowsill or a tray can hold a complete altar. - Gifting idea: ritual tools are personal; a gift card or a note inviting the recipient to choose can be just as welcome. - Care idea: wipe tools after each ritual so wax, ash and water marks don't build up. ## Care - Wipe with a gentle, slightly damp cloth and dry it straight away; keep away from soaps, salt and long soaks. Its colour can soften in prolonged direct sunlight. - Dust with a gentle, dry brush; keep away from harsh cleaners on painted finishes. ## Policies - Delivery: UK delivery £3.95, free over £40, 2–5 working days.
