Its name comes from the Greek amethystos, 'not intoxicated', and in older European tradition it was carried as a stone of sobriety and calm thinking. Today it is one of the most popular stones for a quiet corner or meditation shelf. These are traditions and beliefs, described for interest, not health or medical claims. ## How to use - Rest on a heat-proof, stable surface away from curtains. - For oil burners, add water and a few drops of oil to the dish before lighting the tealight; never let it boil dry. - Ritual idea: write your intention on a slip of paper, read it aloud, then light the candle or incense. - Moon idea: the new moon is the traditional time for beginnings and the full moon for gratitude and release. - Evening idea: light it as you switch off screens for the night, a simple cue to wind down. ## Care - Clean once cool with a damp cloth. ## Policies - Delivery: UK delivery £3.95, free over £40, 2–5 working days.
