## Description

Cream Ribbed Smudge Bowl is a hand-tied bundle of dried herbs, about 7 x 14 x 14cm long. Lit and softly extinguished, it smoulders and releases aromatic smoke.

The owl was the companion of Athena, goddess of wisdom, and a bird of night magic in British folklore.

From the maker: This cream ribbed ceramic smudge bowl is perfect for holding sage or incense. Its ribbed texture adds a contemporary yet timeless touch to any space.

Size: approximately 7 x 14 x 14cm, weighing about 505g. Allow for small variations between batches.

## Traditions (belief, not health claims)

For many people today smudging is used to clear a space, often when moving into a new home or after a difficult day. Rue (ruda) has its own long folk tradition in Latin America and the Mediterranean as a protective herb. Burning bundles of sacred herbs is rooted in the ceremonies of Indigenous peoples of the Americas; we encourage learning those origins respectfully. These are traditions and beliefs, described for interest, not health or medical claims.

## How to use

- Hold a heat-proof dish or abalone shell underneath to catch embers.
- Walk the smoke around the space and open a window.
- Extinguish fully by pressing into sand or a dish; never leave it smouldering.
- Light the tip, let it catch for a few seconds, then blow out the flame.
- Storage: keep spares somewhere cool and dark so colours and scents stay fresh.
- Ritual idea: write your intention on a slip of paper, read it aloud, then light the candle or incense.
- Moon idea: the new moon is the traditional time for beginnings and the full moon for gratitude and release.

## Care

- Keep it dry and in its wrapper until use.
