Struck or circled around the rim with a mallet, it produces a sustained tone with layered overtones that slowly fades. From the maker: Use the wood end of the stick to make the bowl sing, a gift that will make someone more than happy - bringing a little extra inner calm to your customers. Frequencies of the sound are different between Chakra signing bowls. Tibetan Sing Bowls Sets. The set as pictured; see the description for each part. ## Traditions (belief, not health claims) Singing bowls are tied to the Himalayan region. Bowls made there have traditionally been hand-hammered or cast from metal alloys, and many carry engraved mantras or symbols. In meditation and sound practice, the bowl's fading tone is used as a focal point, and bowls are often played at the beginning and end of a session. The chakra system comes from Indian tantric and yogic traditions, which describe seven energy centres from the root to the crown, each traditionally given a colour. Traditional meanings are offered for interest and reflection, not as a health claim. ## How to use - Rest the bowl on a cushion or your flat, open palm. - Tap the outside wall with care with the mallet to wake the bowl. - Circle the rim slowly with even pressure; once it starts to sing, keep the speed steady. - For a softer sound, strike rather than rub, and let each tone fade fully. - Session idea: strike once at the start of a meditation and let the tone fade completely before you begin. - Yoga idea: teachers often sound a bowl or bells to open savasana or to mark the close of class. - Home idea: a short sound practice after work is a simple way to mark the switch from work to rest. ## Care - Wipe with a gentle, dry cloth after use; skin oils can mark the metal. ## Policies - Delivery: UK delivery £3.95, free over £40, 2–5 working days.
