The Buddha, Siddhartha Gautama, taught in northern India around the 5th century BCE. Statues show him in mudras, hand gestures that each carry a meaning, such as touching the earth or turning the wheel of the teachings. Size: approximately 10.7 x 6cm, weighing about 0.4kg. Allow for small variations between batches. ## Traditions (belief, not health claims) Singing bowls are associated with the Himalayan region, including Nepal, Tibet and northern India, where metal bowls have long been made by hand-hammering or casting. In meditation practice, a bowl is struck at the start and end of a sitting, and the fading tone is used as a point of focus. We share these as cultural traditions and personal beliefs only, never as health claims. ## How to use - Strike the side with care with the mallet, then slowly circle the rim with steady pressure until the bowl begins to sing. - Keep your fingers off the walls of the bowl, which mute the sound. - Rest the bowl on its cushion on a flat surface or your open palm. - Practice tip: record yourself playing on your phone; it is the quickest way to hear whether your pressure is steady. - Neighbour tip: rim playing is quieter than striking if you live in a flat. - Gifting idea: a ready-to-play set is a thoughtful present for a yoga teacher or a friend starting meditation. ## Care - Wipe with a dry, gentle cloth after handling to remove fingerprints. ## Policies - Delivery: UK delivery £3.95, free over £40, 2–5 working days. UK addresses only. - Returns: You can cancel within 14 days of delivery under the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations; email hello@starseeduk.co.uk to arrange a return and we refund within 14 days of receiving it back. - Payment: Payment is by debit or credit card (and the wallets Shopify supports) through secure Shopify checkout. ## Questions and answers (17) ### What is the Buddha Singing Bowl Set- Black/Orange 10.7cm used for?
