## Traditions (belief, not health claims)

Scent and light are part of almost every ritual tradition, from temple lamps to home altars. Its name comes from the Greek amethystos, 'not intoxicated', and in older European tradition it was carried as a stone of sobriety and calm thinking. Today it is one of the most popular stones for a quiet corner or meditation shelf. These are traditions and beliefs, described for interest, not health or medical claims.

## How to use

- For oil burners, add water and a few drops of oil to the dish before lighting the tealight; never let it boil dry.
- Stand on a heat-proof, stable base away from curtains.
- Moon idea: the new moon is the traditional time for beginnings and the full moon for gratitude and release.
- Evening idea: light it as you switch off screens for the night, a simple cue to wind down.
