## Description

17cm Black Cat Hourglass Timer is a piece of tableware with a magical, folklore-inspired design for everyday use.

Black cats were the familiars of witches in British folklore; sailors and many in Britain still count a black cat crossing your path as good luck.

Black is the traditional colour of protection and of banishing what is unwanted. Styling: black looks dramatic on a gothic altar and crisp against white walls.

It is cast in resin and hand-painted, which keeps it light and allows fine detail; display it indoors.

From the maker: Keep track of time with this detailed hourglass with black cats and ornamental gothic designs. Finished with a faux silver effect and filled with grey sand.

Size: approximately 18 x 8.5 x 11cm, weighing about 753g. Allow for small variations between batches.

## Traditions (belief, not health claims)

Brooms, cauldrons, potion bottles and moons became the visual language of witches through folklore, Victorian illustration and film. Hearth and home sit at the heart of folk witchcraft: the 'kitchen witch' tradition finds magic in everyday tasks such as brewing tea, tending plants and keeping a tidy threshold. Traditional meanings are offered for interest and reflection, not as a health claim.

## How to use

- Group it with candles, plants and books for a cosy witchy shelf.
- Use it every day or keep it on display as a seasonal piece for Samhain and Halloween.
- Care idea: dust regularly and keep it away from direct heat and damp.
- Display idea: odd numbers of objects (one, three or five) look most natural on a shelf.
- Storage idea: a box or chest keeps cards, crystals and keepsakes together and dust-free.
