In the Golden Dawn tradition used by the Rider-Waite-Smith deck, Gemini is linked with The Lovers. Its three ten-day 'decans' map to the Eight of Swords, Nine of Swords and Ten of Swords, and as a air sign it belongs to the suit of Swords.

## The Lovers: the Gemini card

Keywords: love, harmony, meaningful choice. A union of hearts or values. The Lovers ask you to choose from what you truly cherish.

Reversed: Imbalance or a values clash. A relationship or decision may need honest realignment.

Why Gemini? The card's themes echo the sign's curious nature. [Full The Lovers meaning](https://www.starseeduk.co.uk/learn/tarot/lovers).

## The Gemini decans in the minor arcana

The Golden Dawn split each sign into three ten-day decans and gave each a numbered minor card. For Gemini they run in order through the sign's dates:

### First decan: Eight of Swords

Movement and mastery · air. Swift progress in thought, truth and communication. Dedication and practice carry you forward. [Read more](https://www.starseeduk.co.uk/learn/tarot/eight-of-swords).

### Second decan: Nine of Swords

Near-fulfilment · air. Almost there in thought, truth and communication. Savour how far you have come and guard your gains. [Read more](https://www.starseeduk.co.uk/learn/tarot/nine-of-swords).

### Third decan: Ten of Swords

Completion and legacy · air. The fullness of thought, truth and communication. A cycle completes, for joy or for release. [Read more](https://www.starseeduk.co.uk/learn/tarot/ten-of-swords).

## The suit of Swords

Gemini is a air sign, and air belongs to the suit of Swords in most decks. When Swords cards dominate a Gemini reading, tradition reads it as the sign's own energy speaking.

## A three-card Gemini spread

Shuffle, draw three cards and read them as a short story. Tarot is used here for reflection, not prediction.

- Card 1, The Lovers's question: where in my life am I being asked to love?
- Card 2: what is helping me right now?
- Card 3: one small step for this Gemini season.
