In the Golden Dawn tradition used by the Rider-Waite-Smith deck, Aquarius is linked with The Star. Its three ten-day 'decans' map to the Five of Swords, Six of Swords and Seven of Swords, and as a air sign it belongs to the suit of Swords.

## The Star: the Aquarius card

Keywords: hope, renewal, serenity. After the storm, the Star pours healing water. Hope is returning; trust the night sky.

Reversed: Discouragement. Reconnect with what once gave you faith.

Why Aquarius? The card's themes echo the sign's original nature. [Full The Star meaning](https://www.starseeduk.co.uk/learn/tarot/star).

## The Aquarius decans in the minor arcana

The Golden Dawn split each sign into three ten-day decans and gave each a numbered minor card. For Aquarius they run in order through the sign's dates:

### First decan: Five of Swords

Challenge and change · air. A test in thought, truth and communication. Conflict or loss asks what truly matters to you. [Read more](https://www.starseeduk.co.uk/learn/tarot/five-of-swords).

### Second decan: Six of Swords

Harmony and generosity · air. Flow returns to thought, truth and communication. Give, receive and remember sweeter days. [Read more](https://www.starseeduk.co.uk/learn/tarot/six-of-swords).

### Third decan: Seven of Swords

Reflection and perseverance · air. Hold your ground in thought, truth and communication. Assess your options and stay true. [Read more](https://www.starseeduk.co.uk/learn/tarot/seven-of-swords).

## The suit of Swords

Aquarius is a air sign, and air belongs to the suit of Swords in most decks. When Swords cards dominate a Aquarius reading, tradition reads it as the sign's own energy speaking.

## A three-card Aquarius spread

Shuffle, draw three cards and read them as a short story. Tarot is used here for reflection, not prediction.

- Card 1, The Star's question: where in my life am I being asked to hope?
- Card 2: what is helping me right now?
- Card 3: one small step for this Aquarius season.
