Together they point to a strong bond with a question attached. Is this connection chosen freely, or held by habit, fear or desire? The pair often shows intense chemistry, and asks you to look honestly at the terms. ## The two cards ### The Lovers Love, harmony, meaningful choice. A union of hearts or values. The Lovers ask you to choose from what you truly cherish. [Full meaning](https://www.starseeduk.co.uk/learn/tarot/lovers). ### The Devil Attachment, temptation, shadow. Chains that could be lifted off. The Devil shows what binds you so you can see it plainly. [Full meaning](https://www.starseeduk.co.uk/learn/tarot/devil). ## In love Passion that is hard to walk away from. Check that both of you feel free and respected, not tied by jealousy or dependence. ## Work and money A tempting offer with strings attached. Read the contract before you say yes. ## Advice Name what keeps you in the situation. If it is love, good; if it is fear, the chains are looser than they look. ## Yes or no Unclear: look at the surrounding cards. Yes-or-no readings are a rough guide; the cards' story matters more than the verdict. ## If a card is reversed Reversed, the The Lovers reads as: imbalance or a values clash. A relationship or decision may need honest realignment. Reversed, the The Devil reads as: breaking free. You are recognising a pattern and loosening its hold. A reversal softens, delays or turns the pair's message inward. ## Related combinations - [The Lovers and Two of Cups](https://www.starseeduk.co.uk/tarot-combinations/lovers-and-two-of-cups): a mutual bond - [Death and The Lovers](https://www.starseeduk.co.uk/tarot-combinations/death-and-lovers): a relationship transforms - [The Lovers and Three of Swords](https://www.starseeduk.co.uk/tarot-combinations/lovers-and-three-of-swords): heartbreak in a relationship - [The Devil and The Tower](https://www.starseeduk.co.uk/tarot-combinations/devil-and-tower): breaking free ## Questions **What do the The Lovers and The Devil mean together?** Attraction and its shadow.
