## In astrology

Mars governs drive, energy and conflict. A Mars retrograde is traditionally a time to review plans and avoid picking fights.

We share astrology as tradition and for reflection, not as prediction.

## The astronomy

Mars orbits outside Earth's orbit. It looks retrograde when Earth overtakes it, around the time it is opposite the Sun in our sky, which is also when it is brightest and best placed to see.

Dates here are the 'stations', the moments the planet's apparent motion along the ecliptic stops and reverses, worked out with astronomy-engine to the nearest minute or so.
