A pendulum is a weight, often a crystal, on a chain. In dowsing tradition people ask it simple questions and watch how it swings, as a way of tuning in to their own intuition.

## Step by step

- **Step 1.** Hold the chain between thumb and finger, letting the pendulum hang still.
- **Step 2.** Ask it to show you 'yes' and watch the movement, then ask for 'no'.
- **Step 3.** Ask clear yes/no questions, one at a time.
- **Step 4.** Keep your hand relaxed and still.
- **Step 5.** Thank it and put it away when you're done.

## Looking after it

- Keep in a pouch so the chain doesn't tangle.
- Some people cleanse theirs in moonlight; avoid water on metal parts.

## Safety

- Use it for reflection, not for health, money or legal decisions.

## A note on beliefs

Where we mention traditional uses or meanings, we describe what people believe and practise. These products aren't medical devices and we make no health claims.
